We do not know when Gabe Newell will offer updates on 'Half-Life 3', but there are countless ways to make time to decide: some sabotage criticism of Valve games on Steam, others update the technical section of the two deliveries already available, JJ Abrams prefers to try his luck with the movie ... And the user of ModDB Sockman111 has launched to develop a demake of 'Half-Life 2'. And it is not getting all bad.

As it is intuited by its name and its presentation, 'Half-Life 2 Classic' is a reimagination of the classic of Valve recreated with Goldsrc. And although we will see licenses and concessions, we must recognize that the engine of the first Half-Life is being hurried to the maximum.

This project has been under development for two months and is being developed by a team composed of five members for pure fun. In fact, they say, the first chapter is almost finished and is completely playable, which has been used to offer as a demo and receive feedback from fans.

We are a small team of 5 people, and all this we have been doing in our spare time. The reason we wanted to announce it before we finished it is because we desperately need people, especially programmers and modellers.

The demo, available from Saturday 16 but updated one day later, occupies less than 50MB and has the dual purpose of serving as an appetizer of the initiative and serve as a demand for programmers and developers to join the project, and it is not even ruled out that 'Half-Life 2 Classic' is continued by third parties in case you can not adapt the entire game.

It is possible that this has already been attempted before, but no other project has been tackled thus. With 'Half-Life 2 Classic', we hope to forge closer ties with the community, so that even if we fail to recreate the whole game, it would still be possible to throw a substantial part of it so that it can be continued by someone else in the future.

It may take time to know what happened to Gordon Freeman, though the former screenwriter seems to have been very clear about what would have happened if he had continued. Of course, it is necessary to recognize that more facilities to approach - or to revive - the saga can not be offered by the fans. For now, you can download the demo with the first chapter of 'Half-Life 2'.
